An update to the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic has been announced for 2012 and sees the fuel consumption rating improved by almost three per cent, making it one of the most economical cars in Australia.
The 2012 Ford Fiesta updates feature new combined fuel consumption rating of just 3.6 litres per 100 kilometres as well as a revised gear set and a variable flow oil pump - matching the supply to the engine's needs rather than its revs. Also included are low rolling resistance tyres, improved aerodynamics and a modified engine calibration.
The new features see the Ford Fiesta join EcoLPi and EcoBoost cars in the range of fuel efficient Ford cars.
"It brings together a whole range of clever thinking and technologies that are available right now, creating an environmentally conscious car that delivers economy without compromise and genuine savings against the fuel cost of daily driving," Ford Australia president and chief executive officer Bob Graziano said.
"Ford ECOnetic technology is a customer focused initiative bringing together a range of car features and technologies specifically targeting better fuel economy, reduced emissions and overall lower cost-of-ownership – without compromise to great design or driving dynamics," he added.
